Copywriting in 2023 vs Content Marketing can the two co-exist any longer? Here is the compromise during this timely transition and the mass introduction of AI writers.

Copywriting can supplement content marketing strategies such as blog posts, social media campaigns, and other digital marketing outreach to increase brand visibility and reach potential customers.

Here is how the two may continue to work together in support of an open market, relevant products, and services that consumers want.

Quality copywriting provides structure to establish clear messaging and reinforces the key message in text and visual communications, which increases engagement.

Without humor or cultural idioms, can the average consumer really benefit from copywriting?

Copywriting is used to develop content that will capture your reader's attention and motivate them to act. So it is critical to strike the right tone, which means in the same way that advertising changes with the times, copywriting must adapt. It can, however, be more scientific than ‘whatever works’.

Can AI (Artificial Intelligence) replace copywriting?

AI writers are able to generate content quickly, accurately, and efficiently. They can also be used to optimize content for SEO and generate multiple variations of a single piece of content, but messaging, engagement, and plagiarism are still human responsibilities.

Does a good copywriter need to be a triple threat (i.e. graphic artists/designers, wordsmiths, and video creators)?

Yes and no. It is true that having a diverse set of skills is competitive as well as advantageous, a copywriter can specialize in one or two areas and still be successful. The essence of good copywriting is architecture, by architecture I mean areas of specialty (print, web, social media), demographics (target audience), and message.

A solid, relevant idea should translate seamlessly on and offline.

Offline marketing is the original platform for copywriting, should I focus on print advertising (fliers, mailers, brochures) or forge ahead with email marketing?

That all depends on your CTA (Call to action).

Here is a basic formula to establish a simple CTA:

1. Determine the purpose of the advertisement or promotional material. Why are you running this ad, building this website, or printing this brochure? Is the goal to generate leads? Get your name out there? Sales? Or something else?

2. Write down the one thing you really want a reader to do when they come across your marketing, and then ask them to do it.

Email marketing is cost-effective and intimate (treating each reader uniquely), therefore copywriting must focus on the steps to CTA.

Usually this means a follow-up, meeting, or subscription.

How can someone use email marketing in the same way as targeted advertising?

Email Farming.

Email farming combines personalized marketing and bulk email messaging in order to reach consumers. It is the most efficient way to scale up your email marketing. Any business model can include efarming to develop a customer base.

How does E-farming or email farming work?

One way is to collect a large list of targeted email address in order to personally deliver your marketing message. It is a sensible way for marketers to reach a broad audience quickly.

How does this relate to copywriting?

Email farming copywriting should be direct, concise, and relevant to the target audience. The content should also be engaging and informative to maintain the attention of the audience with a clear call-to-action. Always optimize your copy for search engines and mobile devices.

How does this differ from traditional email marketing copywriting?

Email farming copywriting needs to be more pithy with urgent call-to-action.

Traditional email marketing, places a greater emphasis on providing value, building relationships, and nurturing leads over time. A conversational tone and informative content is used to establish interest in the brand.

How does email farming link to content marketing?

Content marketing can be used to replace or supplement email farming; it can be used to both attract new prospective customers and retain existing customers. And is a valuable way to foster relationships, educate customers, and nurture leads.

Email farming, on the other hand, is a method of acquiring a large list of email addresses quickly in order to target potential customers. Content marketing and email farming can be used in tandem to create an all-encompassing digital marketing strategy.
